Abstract:
There are many factors causing variations in the students’ achievements, but the most important factor is the competent teacher who has the ability to utilize the ICTs in the teaching/learning process. ICT technology entered the educational field in the developed countries many years ago, but, it is relatively new in Sudan that is why teachers will need professional training to deal with it. The studies have proved the effectiveness of ICTs in improving learning and in solving the educational issues. Therefore, administrations should provide on-going training to the teachers as the implementation of ICT in the teaching/learning process must be accompanied by considerable improvements in teachers competence and confidence in using and integrating the ICTs in their subjects teaching. Furthermore, Sudanese teachers need to have good understanding of how technology applications can realize efficiencies and that it have the potential to address workload and productivity issues. Nowadays, the students are savvy with technology because they were born into this technological world. Thus, unless the teachers take this seriously they will lag behind their students. Accordingly, the students may lack confidence in their teachers. Thus, it is inevitable to provide pre –service, in-service and continuous training for the teachers in the use of ICT so as to be able to cope with the innovative education era.
