Abstract:
Two hundred serum samples were collected from different age groups of male and female camels (Camelius dromedarius) from North and South Kordofan States. The aim of the study was to assess thyroid hormones (Tri-iodothyronine T3 and Thyroxin T4) in the dromedary camel. The results indicated that the T3 and T4 concentrations were higher in the blood of camels from North Kordofan. All of T3 value and 74.6% of T4 value in this study were below the previous reported values in the literature for the normal dromedary at Kordofan State. Sex was found to have no effect on T3 and T4 values in camels from both localities, whereas, camels aging <5 years from both localities of Kordofan exhibited higher T3 and T4 values compared to those aging >10 years.
