Abstract:
Field experiment was conducted during (5 - 7 - 2011) in the Demonstration Farm of the collage of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology, to evaluate the performace of some sweet sorghum (Ankolib) cultivers for agronomic and quality attributes under different level of Urea fertilizer. Sweet sorghum cultivars sown were Ankolib Nyala, Ankolib Sennar White and ANK S.S.S. different doses of (urea 46% N) used 100, 150, and 200 Kg/ha . The treatments were factorially arranged in RCBD with three replications where the cultivars were allotted to the main plot and Urea doses to sub-plots. Agronomic and quality traits studied included: green and dry matter, days to flowering, plant height, number of leaves and inter nods per plant, length of first and last internodes, stem diameter and sugar.
Highly significant differences were detected percentage between cultivars in forage green yield; days to flowering, plant height, length of last internodes and sugar percentage. Significant differences were detected among cultivars for number of leaves, internodes, length of first internodes and number of plant. Interaction of cultivars with nitrogen was significant for days to flowering and sugar percentage.
Urea doses had highly significant effect to increase on sugar % among all the cultivars.
The results showed that the best cultivars was ANK S.S.S which gave the highest yield, and the best doses of Urea application was 200 kg/ha Urea.
