Abstract:
This study aims at examining the Pronunciation Competence: Investigating English Allomorphs among second year students in English Department at Sudan University of Science and Technology of the problem of pronouncing final-s and final- d sounds. The study follows the descriptive analytic method, employing a test for data collection. Data collected undergo statistical processing. The study concludes to many findings. The most important are the following:
- The statistical analysis revealed that there are differences in pronouncing the final /s/ and final /d/ sounds under study.
- The final s/d/ sound errors were utterly in the study as shown before. Most errors were due to ignorance of rule. Finally, the researcher recommends the following:
- Pronouncing competence should be given care for all undergraduates, particularly for second level students.
- This phenomenon needs further studies in 3rd level 4 th level.
