dc.description.abstract This thesis will cover the implementation of hardware control by using internal modem installed in a PC. The implementation has been based on the use of Matlab V6.0 as tool for programming and Visual C++ for hardware control programming. Modem has been controlled and programmed by using the AT command set from inside the Matlab. Initially the modem has been configured for communication, and then using the matlab and the AT command it has been programmed to accept calls and auto answer. The system will accept Code from any telephone handset and accordingly send control code through the parallel port to control the hardware. Therefore by building specific code for different hardware operation, it can be controlled remotely by telephone by sending the corresponding code for every operation which will be executed by receiving the code through the PC parallel port. en_US
