Abstract:
According to the expensive lying of cables, it is so difficult to offer accessibility to wired network resources and internet for all users in high density area (like the Sudan university), by using Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), this problem can be solved, so that students and staff at the university can easy access data and knowledge. Also the overhead caused by moves in wired networks can be reduced.
Wireless network connectivity not only solves the problem of the user's mobility but also offers roaming. Wireless LAN is the best way to enhance the data connectivity in the existing wired network building without the expense of installing cables.
This thesis proposes a Wireless fidelity (wifi) design that connects the Sudan University south campus with a wireless network to support the existing wired network. The design methodology is implemented into several stages and these are: the site survey, to collect data so as to accuratly implement the wireless network, data analysis, to decide the site requirements, the proposed design and finally, the design cost. The design proposed is detailed showing the access points locations, their expected throughput, connectivity, the channel frequency plan and how to keep the wireless network secure.
