Abstract:
This study aims to determine the extend to which the instructive learning approach
appropriate to French grammar instruction by means of computer based learning package, explore
the role of computer as instructional tool in motivating students to learn French grammar, determine
the extend to which the learning package enhance group work in French grammar instruction,
determine the achievement of the learning package objectives, and assess the usability of the
learning package.
The study community of the study represents the first year students of French language in
different Sudanese universities, while the sample represents the first year students of French
department in faculty of education at Sudan University for science and technology.
Actually, this is a qualitative and quantitative study depending on summative and formative
evaluation in which, observation, questionnaire, interview with experts, pre and posttest, and
research matrix have been used.
The research depends on verifying the following hypothesis:
1. Instructivist learning is appropriate for French grammar instruction by means of using
computer-based learning package.
2. Using computer as instructional tool motivates students to learn French grammar.
3. Group work is suitable for French grammar by means of using computer-based learning
package.
4. The learning package objectives are effectively achieved.
5. The program is technically easy to use.
6. The program is pedagogically adequate.
7. The program content is relevant for students.
8. The program is cosmetically appealing.
The study provided the following results:
1. The instructive learning approach is appropriate for French grammar instruction.
2. Using computer as instructional tool is appropriate to motivate students to learn French
grammar.
3. Group work is suitable for students to learn French grammar by means of computer-
based learning package.
4. The learning package objectives are effectively met.
