dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of propofolxylazine and propofol-xylazine-diazepam protocols on clinical and haematological parameters in an attempts to produce safe and satisfactory total intravenous anaesthesia in camel. In this study two protocols were used: Propofol-Xylazine protocol and Propofol-Xylazine-diazepam protocol, camellus dromedaries was used as the experimental animal. 1-Propofol(1%) 2mg/kg+Xylazine(2%) 0.25mg/kg intraveinous injection 2- Propofol(1%) 2mg/kg+Xylazine(2%) 0.25mg/kg+Diazepam(0.5%) 0.25mg/kg as intraveinous injection All anaesthetic protocols produced satisfactory induction and rapid smooth recovery and there were significant increase in the duration of anaesthesia phase(unconsciousness) during protocol two compared to protocol one which may be attributed to the use of diazepam in protocol two. Significant increase was also noticed in protocol two, in the duration of lateral recumbency, sternal recumbency, standing position and total recovery time was monitoring during course of anaethesia. Induction of anaesthesia, muscle relaxation and recoveries were satisfactory in both protocols used. The clinical and haematological parameters were measured before, during and after anaesthesia at interval of 15,30,60,120 minutes throughout the duration of the experiment. VIII The respiratory rate was anon significantly increase or decrease in both propofol-xylazine and propofol-xylazine-diazepam protocols while the heart rate was significantly decrease(p≤0.05) values of 51.8±5.4 compared to base line values (59.6±1.7) from 30min post injection to 60min post injection time during both regimes.Rectal temperature revealed no significant changes in the two protocols used. The red blood cells(R.B.Cs) and packed cell volume(PCV%) there was significant decrease in protocol one and significant increase in protocol two while haemoglobine concentration and white blood cells(W.B.Cs) there were no changes except at 30min there significant increasein both protocols. The study revealed that the mean of (mean±SD) of reflex , the corneal reflex, spinal reflex, pedal reflex, anal reflex, tail reflex, lips dropping, tongue protrusion and salivation was noted as follows: (22.9)،(40.3)،(20.9)،(22.6)،(31)،(43.7)،(37)،(21.5) immediatelly. On conclusion these protocols were proved to be safe for use as a satisfactory anaesthetic in camel(camelus dromedaries). en_US
