Abstract:
This study was done in period between March – December 2006.
To determine the incidence of first Trimester complications in Pakistan by
ultrasound modality.
Transvaginal sonography aiding early diagnosing of first trimester
complications. Also time sonography show blood vessels, in evaluation of
early pregnancy my objectives of this study to determine the incidence of
first trimester complications in Sudan, examine the accuracy of value of
medical ultrasound in detecting different causes of first trimester
complications, to determine the relationship between frequency of
occurrence and different risk factor, and to differentiate between intra or
extra uterine pregnancy, to aid of reducing in maternal death that result of
this complications.
In this study 200 patients from different regions of Pakistan,
presented for obstetrical ultrasound with complications. These symptoms
represent in, vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, pass of clots of conceptions.
The results of this study as following:
• Bighted ovum 3.5%.
• Threatened abortion 1.5%.
• Complete abortion 4.5%.
• Incomplete abortion 11%.
• Missed abortion 6.5%.
• Subchorionic hematoma 1%.

• Ectopic pregnancy 1.5%
• Inevitable abortion 1%.
• Normal pregnancy 67.5%.
• Abnormal yolk sac 0.5%.
During this study not found fetal anomalies. Abnormal gestational
sac, or sub chorionic hemorrhage.
Ectpoic pregnancy is considered the main cause of maternal death
in first trimester, unfortunately no significant clinical symptoms and
songraphic appearance.
Urine for pregnancy test is useful and helps in first trimester sonography.
