Abstract:
The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of using educational media in teaching English language vocabulary in Sudanese secondary schools. The methodology used in this study is descriptive.
The population of the study were (52) of private secondary school teachers but the sample was (47) private secondary school teachers from the Eastern Khartoum locality. The tool used was questionnaire.
The study hypothesized that:
Using educational media has significant effect on students vocabulary achievement.
Educational media is not used in teaching English language vocabulary in Sudan secondary schools.
The secondary schools teachers have negative opinions towards using educational media in teaching vocabulary.
The traditional teaching are relevant for teaching vocabulary in Sudan secondary schools.
The study has illustrated through the analysis of the questionnaire that:
Using educational media has significant effect on students vocabulary achievement.
Educational media is not used in teaching vocabulary in Sudanese secondary schools because there are some educational and financial difficulties stand against the use of educational media.
The English language teachers have positive opinion towards using educational media in teaching vocabulary in secondary schools.
The secondary schools teachers depend on traditional- teaching aids and there is no other alternative.

Secondary schools should be equipped with all necessary tools and techniques for teaching vocabulary, e.g. record players cassette, language lab, computer, T.V, pictures and video and others related materials.
