Abstract:
This study attempts to evaluate English language achievement test for learners, first year at the secondary schools, in Khartoum locality .The study consists of five chapters
Chapter one contains the statement of the problems , research questions, the research hypotheses , the significance of the research, the research objectives , the tools of the research and the limitation of the research .
Chapter two deals with the literature review of the whole study which includes a background about examinations in Sudan, the reasons for designing general ministry examinations, the advantages and disadvantages of general ministry exams, types of tests , essential characteristics of standard test and the types of test questions.
Chapter three deals with the research methodology which includes the tools that are used by the researcher . the researcher used questionnaire with teachers and analyzed test for first year in secondary level .
In chapter four the results of the tools are discussed in details .The researcher used the SPSS for analyzing the questionnaire ,inaddition to , critical analysis for first year secondary school test .
In chapter five the researcher concludes with recommendations for the problems discussed in the research .Finally , since this study was a limited to first year secondary school ,Khartoum locality, in Sudan , the researcher suggests that further studies should be conducted on testing for obtaining better generalizable results
