Abstract:
This research presents a framework for securing network that uses the routers for connecting them together, whereby focuses on benefiting from the security potentialities available in those routers, with observing that the router dose its basic role which is forwarding of the packets by confirming provision of adequate amount from the memory and that the router IOS be updated as the latest release.
The framework was designed to be applied in SUVL routers, after determination of the shortcomings and deficiency in the basic security configurations of the routers through designing of a questionnaire containing the security configurations on which should be the router, and been submitted to the technical department of SUVL by virtue of its administration over those router and getting knowledge of the method of its configuration. The details of the proposed framework of action were reviewed as well.
The Questionnaire was presented only to the Technical Department, Ministry of Higher Education and not distributed to Sudanese universities, because the administration of most SUVL routers Proceed via the technical department of Ministry, The research did not follow the known analysis methods of the questionnaire for some reasons, mainly all SUVL routers have the same settings, with different names and addresses
The outputs of the questionnaire proved that there is no use for the router security features, as well as the questionnaire result revealed that there is no insurance and no plan thereto.
