Abstract:
This study aims at appraising the importance of
teaching English literature to the cadets of Sudanese
Military College. The population of this study are
students of different sections of the Sudanese Military
College.
A questionnaire was conducted to the students of
different sections and expert teachers were interviewed to
collect the data required for analysis.
All the hypotheses of the study were confirmed to be
valid. The findings of the study have also shown :
1. The military students are interested and have positive
altitudes towords learning English literature.
2. General Head Quarters of the of the Sudanese Army
has exerted big efforts to establish academic institutes to
teach English language to the army personnel.
3. There are some difficulties that may face the military
students when they attempting to learn English literature.
According to the above mentioned findings, the
researcher recommended the following:
1. Establishing specialized mechanism to specify the
needs of the armed forces in the fields of foreign
languages and to propose how to fufill theses needs.
2. Inserting English language as a subject in the
promotion examinations for the officers.
3. Establishing a military libraries equipped with human
cadre and modern equipments.
4. Cooperation with famous military academics to train
the military students, as well as the junior officers.
