Abstract:
This study aims to shed light on the use of audio-visual aids in
teaching English as a foreign Language at the Basic level in sharq Aneel
Locality. The study also surveys the teachers attitudes towards using audiovisual
aids.
The descriptive analytical method was adopted in the this study .
To collect the data required, a questionnaire was administered to fifty EFL
teachers and classroom observation, were also conducted.
The findings of the study have revealed that :
Audio-visual aids are minimally used in Sudan to teach English Language
due to some educational and financial difficulties, English Language
teachers have positive attitudes towards using audio-visual aids in their
classrooms, Teachers believe that using audio-visual aids in teaching
English has a significant effect in student’s motivation and English
Language achievement.
Based on the findings of the study, it recommended that the Ministry of
Education has to give more importance to the use of audio-visual aids in
teaching languages, particularly, English language and provide basic
schools with teaching aids such as cassette player, T.V, pictures,
computers………etc, and other related materials.
