Abstract:
This research focuses on the study of urban forestry. Being a new subject, the research emphasized in details the definition and benefits of urban forestry and its importance in cities and towns which are facing extensive development and expansions to meet the environmental, economical, social and beatification needs. The study considers the ways of how to plant trees in houses, gardens, towns, public roads and shelter-belts around cities and towns. In addition to the style of management, protection and enumeration of the trees already planted there.
The research considered Khartoum as the study area, referring to the Green Belt as one aspect of urban forestry which had completely disappeared, showing the impacts which resulted from this action and estimating areas of different vegetation cover and the types of trees, shrubs, grasses and open areas as well as the land use activities and the state of the land regarding its suitability to agriculture and biodiversity. The research is looking for the different efforts for tree planting in the area in order to secure the maximum environmental, economical, and social benefits and any other beautiful aspects.
