Abstract:
This researcher is concerned to study the psychological Adjustment among Maternally Deprived children and it relation to intelligence. The researcher used the descriptive correlation method .And the sample is randomly selected by random simple sample.
The size of the sample is 50 children at the age of 9 -14 both boys and girls. The sample is taken from SOS village, which is an institution to care for orphan, illegitimate, and parentless children.
To obtain results the following tool are used to collect the data
1.The revised scale of psychological Adjustment by Hume & Bell
2.Wechsler Intelligence Test for children (revised): A adapted by Mohammed Abdel – majeed & Elzubier Basher Taha.
The researcher used the (spss) program for the statistical analysis of data.
The statistics used are frequency distribution, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation of the subject responses. The results are as follows
1.The maternally deprived children have poor psychological adjustment
2.There are no significant differences on psychological adjustment among maternally deprived children due to age factor
3.There are no significant differences among maternally deprived children due to gender factor.
4.Maternally deprived children have low intelligence scores.
5.There is appositive relationship between psychological adjustment &intelligence
Recommendations were put and a number of future researches were suggested to complement what this research has started.
