Abstract:
This was cross – sectional and analytical study conducted in Albuluk
Pediatrics Hospital during the period from November 2008 – February
2009.
Iron deficiency anemia is the most common type of anemia met within
clinical practice. It occur at all age and is always secondary to an
underlying disorder. It is most common natural deficiency in children.
This study aimed to determine and detect the iron deficiency anemia by
measuring the hemoglobin ,PCV, MCH, MCHC, serum iron and serum
ferritin .
The study carried out in 100 predetermined samples that showed ,
microcytic, hypochromic red blood cells in the peripheral blood smear.
The mean of the main parameters is low except the leukocyte count
which is slightly high . The study showed low hemoglobin and low
PCV .
