Abstract:
This study aimed at investigating the role of using code switching in teaching oral skill. The study focused on grade five and six at basic schools learners. The researcher has adopted the descriptive analytical method. It also used questionnaire and classroom observationchecklist as tools. The sample of the study composed of (50) teachers who teachat different Sudanese basic schools in karari locality. The data were subjected to statistical analysis using the SPSS program. The data was presented in percentage form. Also the results of Chi-square wereincluded. The study concluded that basic schools teachers do not use code switching in teaching English language and basic schools teachers have positive attitude towards using CS in teaching.CS enhances EFL basic students’ oral skills. The researcher recommended that EFL teachers should use CS in teaching English language in basic schools and they should be well trained in using code switching in teaching oral skill. Basic schools teachers should use CS to enhance EFL basic pupils’ oral skills. The study recommended that EFL teachers should use CS in teaching English language at the basic schools and they should be well trained in using code switching in teaching oral skills.
