Abstract:
Objective:
The study was carried out to detect the accuracy of high frequency ultrasound in diagnosis of different type of knee joint pathologies.
Method:
This study was done on 100 Pakistani patients who came with knee joint problems. The study was conducted in afro-Asian institute of medical sciences in Lahore Pakistan. The data was collected in the period from December 2007 to December 2008. All patients’ information documented including age, gender, complains and diagnosis, then data gone under analysis and measurement .the data then stored and documented both by written papers and computer and protected. And discussed in detail to give ideas about role of ultrasonological diagnosis of knee joint diseases.
Result:
Among 100 patients the common ultrasound finding is fluid with different knee joint bursa and evidence of inflammation so the presence of arthritis is formed 65% o total patients bursitis appeared as 10%. The ligaments rapture, synovitis, baker’s cyst, fractures and Pigmented villonodular synovitis distributed as equal percentage values.
Conclusion:
The more effectiveness of knee joint ultrasound appears when the clinical features suggest tendon disease, bursal inflammation, synovial abnormality, or capsular disease. Beside the cheapest and simplest The dynamic testing of ligaments and tendons, high-resolution imaging of internal tendon structures and the capacity to distinguish collections of fluids make the ultrasound is better choice in knee joint investigation.
