Abstract:
This study was performed to assess the performance of gamma camera Quality Control system in National Cancer Institute-Wad Madani department of nuclear medicine for the following parameters: uniformity, energy resolution and physical inspection peaking using Tc99m. the samples of this study for quality control reading includes 61 (readings), Extrinsic uniformity 52, Energy resolution 9. Were the data collected in period from January to June 2020.
All results that was obtained from the study have been compared with the acceptance limits with International Atomic Energy Agency and National Electricals Manufacturing Association -2001 standards. The result reveal that the extrinsic uniformity for differential and integral were in the accepted limits that established by NEMA for the hospital, and the value of energy resolution was 5.43%, 5.66%, and the energy resolution showed a central peak of the energy at 140 KeV.
The research concluded that the value of the results of the gamma camera that was obtained from national cancer institute was closed to the standard set by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the National Electricals Manufacturing Association(NEMA).
