dc.description.abstract An irrigation system is the main factor in the process of agriculture, as when the farmer watering plants accurately will get high quality of crops, but there are many problems facing farmers, such as monitoring and control of irrigation crops because of the long distances, which causes drowning of crop. Also, there are much consumption in the water, power and human resource. There are many techniques that reduce the consumption of water, energy and time wasted in the monitoring process and to obtain high quality of the crop In this project a technique is used to reduce these consumptions and product high quality of crops using an automated Irrigation System. The proposed solution is to design a fully automated irrigation system using wireless Sensors and a Global System for Mobile (GSM) module powered by solar energy without intervention of human to reduce the running cost of irrigation systems, which saves physical effort and time in irrigation operation and reduces number of worker and get high productivity. This is achieved by using a microcontroller (Arduino Uno) to control the pump and valves according to the signals received from soil moisture sensor which read soil humidity. The microcontroller ia also connected to Real Time Clock (RTC) to monitor the schedule of watering as programmed and connected to a water level sensor to protect plants from drowning by sending a signal to the microcontroller when the water reaches a specific level. Also, the microcontroller is connected to the GSM module to inform the user about extreme field condition by sending a message to the user. The automated irrigation system is simulated and implemented in hardware successfully so the remote agricultural fields could be easily operated, monitored and controlled with a relatively low cost. en_US
