Abstract:
This study presents the role of debate in developing discursive competence oral . The research is conducted with third grade French students at nilein university. The problematic of the study is that monogerious activities in classroom don’t allow students to interact in argumentative situations which is insufficient for describing language interaction. Consequently, the aim of this study is to approach the debate as a learning device to develop discourse competence and show the role of the teacher in leading the participants The method of analysis used for this research is a descriptive and interpretive method based on observing students while debating. This article led us to some results such as developing exchanges and confrontations of ideas between students, using discursive connectors, expressing accordance and discordance in French language.
