Abstract:
This work focuses on the use of nanoparticles (NPs) within coatings in optical fiber. Sol gel technique was used to synthesize ZnO, Al2O3 and MgO NPs. The precipitated compounds were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy. The ZnO NPs displayed characteristic SPR peak at around 400 nm, and Al2O3 NPs displayed characteristic SPR peaks at 375 nm, 435 nm and 455nm, and MgO NPs displayed characteristic SPR peaks at 380 and 440nm. The results showed that the optical reflection of the 532 nm laser beam by MgO NPs is better than Al2O3 NPs and ZnO NPs. It also reveals that increasing of nano-layer thicknesses result in increasing of the delivered diode laser intensity.
