Abstract:
In the last few years cancer become widely distributed in
Sudan for unknown reasons.
Chemotherapy is the most common type of treatment used
for treating cancer, which has a wide side effects on human body.
(Perry and Michael 2008)
This study was held from April to July 2010 in 81 cancer
patients under chemotherapy treatment. Forty six were females
(aged 23 to 76 years), whereas 35 were males (aged 17 to 81
years), who were attended at radiation and isotopes center in
Khartoum, to assess the effect of chemotherapy on urea and
creatinine.
Blood sample from each patient was taken and serum was
obtained in plain container, serum urea and creatinine levels were
measured using spectrophotometer.Statistical analysis of results showed that chemotherapy has
no effect on serum urea and creatinine levels of cancer patients
.who were treated with chemotherapy
Also the study revealed that the duration of chemotherapy
.has no effect on serum urea and creatinine levels
