Abstract:
English Spelling is without a doubt a complicated matter
in which many interrelated skills involved and learners around
the word have trouble getting the letters right. It is a fact that
English Spelling in more complex than Arabic. This is
expected to pose several spelling.
Difficulties for Arabic students particularly in the early
stages of spelling development. Due to the limited body of
research in the acquisition of the spelling skill and spelling
errors produced by Sudanese Students of English who are
learning English as foreign language, this study tries to
determine patterns of spelling errors defined under these
taxonomy Omission, Homophone, Substitution of un accented
syllable, Substitution of certain letters and adding letters.
A test was given to the Student at secondary school then it
was analyzed and discussed then concluded with results,
recommendations and suggestions for further studies.
