Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the problems of
the Investigating the reasons of the Deterioration of
English language teaching and learning in Sudan
Universities. The researcher adopted in this study the
descriptive and analytical method.
The population of this study consists of 20
teachers from Sudan university of science &technology
and 20 teachers from Al Zaiem Alazhari university. Also
consists of 47 students from Al Azhari University faculty
of Education (first year).
The researcher used the tools questionnaire and test.
The researcher used the percentage and a standard
deviation for analyzing the tools and comes to the
following results:
The pronunciation errors of the first year English
students are difference between the Arabic sound
spelling and the English language .
- Most teachers of English language find some
difficulties because of new ideas in the target
language .
- English teachers need to concentrate their efforts on
the difficulties in teaching reading.
-
Most students have several problems in grammar,
composition and comprehension.
In the light of the results of the study, the writers presents
the following recommendations
-
-Installation of multimedia's language laboratories in
universities in to help oral interaction.
-Teachers should encourage students to speak in English.
-The views of experienced teachers should be taken into
consideration when designing the English language
syllabuses.
