Abstract:
The radical different behaviour of online transaction (OLTP) performance on
different environment makes the performance measurements using benchmarks
tools are crucial for the performance analysis, the design of an OLTB and the
servers used in that environments. Migration from Single Instance environment
to a cluster environment such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) is
combined with OLTP performance degradation. Determining which aspects of
the OLTP or Server configuration are behind the performance degradation,
requires technical experiment to benchmark that environments to explicit the
root cause of degradation.
The researcher have conduct a series of experiments on the Single Instance
environment as well as Real application Cluster and found that the RAC
environment yield with degraded performance, after that he studied the wait
events top-listed the benchmarking reports and work on it to improve the RAC
performance.
A considerable improvement has been gained on RAC environment performance
by applying reverse indexes key and automating the memory management using
Memory Target features.
