Abstract:
The experiment was conducted at the experimental farm, college of Agricultural studies, Shambat, Sudan University of Science and Technology.
Five ratios of intercropping between Rhodes grass and Philipsara were used in this study.
The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Seven different characters were measured for consequence three cuttings. These characters were plant height (cm), leaf area (c ), number of leaves/ plant, leaf to srem ratio, fresh forage yield ton\ha, dry forage yield ton\ha and crude protein for the third cut. The analysis of variance revealed non-significant difference between the four studied ratios for the three cutting for all growth, significant differences (P 0.05). For fresh and dry forage yield in all cut except the first cut of dry forage yield, it was non significant. The range of the forage yield for the three cuts was 27.1 to 50.4 ton\ha for fresh yield. The range of crude protein was 9.92 to 18.1 for the third cut.
