Abstract:
The term stock exchange, financial market, capital market, securities market or bourse is a corporation which provides facilities for stock brokers and traders to trade securities in a given marketplace and according to specified trading regulatory rules.
Stock exchanges have been developed substantially during the last two decades, particularly in developing countries which aimed at sustaining economic development and enhancing global economic integration. Khartoum stock exchange has contributed significantly to contemporary economic development of the Sudan during the period (1995 – 2005) which represents a central concern for research problem and related hypotheses.
The research has been consisted of five main chapters including: chapter one for introduction which centered on methodological framework of the research, chapter two for basic concepts, chapter three for contribution of Khartoum stock exchange to contemporary economic development of the Sudan (1995 – 2005), chapter four for statistical analysis and testing of hypotheses and chapter five for conclusion and recommendations of research.
As such the researcher has discussed the research problem through conducting a wide range of primary and secondary sources of information to enrich analysis and to verify research hypotheses. The researcher, has left the door opened for coming generation of researchers who involved in stock exchange activities to proceed researches on other dimensions of phenomenon under study which are not covered by this study to enrich knowledge and to add valuable contribution to Sudanese libraries which lacked similar contemporary studies and researches on financial economics as a recent discipline in the Sudan.
