Abstract:
This study aims at investigating the differences between American English and British English in the two levels of English Language (vocabulary and spelling).The researcher used a descriptive analytic method in her research design.
The researcher was conducted a test consisted of two questions about American and British English choices. The test was conducted in Sudan University of Science and Technology, College of Languages, Department of English, to first year students, who are majoring in English Language.
The results and findings to which the researcher came to reach at the end of the investigations supported the research hypotheses which state that there is a serious weakness among students in differentiating between American and British English.
At the end of the study, the researcher provided some recommendations which the researcher thinks to be beneficial in solving the problems which face English - as a second or a foreign - Language learner as a reslut of these differences.
