Abstract:
An important factor in the operation of an electric power system is the desire to maintain system security. In the interconnected power systems, it is very important to make the most of existing transmission networks in order to avoid the construction of other transmission systems, especially when energy demand increased, which leading to reduce the cost and effort. Recently traditional compensation systems have been replaced with synchronous static compensator that has the ability to undermine the reactive power in transmission systems by controlling the voltage and amperage capacity of transmission lines. In this research static synchronous compensator has been used to control the voltage at the sub-station of Marenjan. In this research the shunt operation of FACTS controller has been studied, the STATCOM, and how it helps in the better utilization of a network operating under normal conditions and different load cases. It will show how the STATCOM work and maintain the system’s voltage within the limits under any condition of load changing.
