Abstract:
This dissertation deals with the control of power flow in electrical power systems. During the last few years interest in the possibility to control the active power flow in transmission systems has increased significantly. There is a number of reasons for this coming both from application side that is from power system operation and from technological side where advance in power electronics and relative technologies have made new system components available.
Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) can be used in power system for power flow control. (TCSC) is useful for improving the systems transient stability and to increase power transfer, improves the reactive power balance and improves voltage regulation.
In this project Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) characteristics, construction, performance, control system, mathematical model, and application in National Electric Corporation (NEC) as a new method of power flow control can be discussed.
The strategy of this project is to analyzed and to get a mathematical model and physical knowledge about thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) and computer simulation of the system shown insight into the system behavior in National Electric Corporation (NEC) of reasonable size and graphical approach for analyzing the effect of (TCSC) illustrated.
