Abstract:
Increase in the rapid growth of Technology significantly increased the usage
and utilization of CNC systems in industries but at considerable expensive. The idea
on Improve 3axis CNC router by add new axis came forward to reduce the
complexity in CNC systems. This research looks at the decision of moving a
company from a traditional 3-axis engraving set-up to a 4-axis engraving set-up. The
new design is achieved by incorporating the features of a standard PC interface with
breakout board based CNC system. The system also features an offline G-Code
parser and then interpreted on the breakout board from a parallel port.
The study is mainly focused on the machine stability, structural analysis in static
and dynamic loading, machine control unit and software feasibility of the machine.
The new axis is the set of stepper motor (low cost, simple connection)
assembled with spindle (80mm 3chuck, 80 rpm) through toothed belt and tailstock.
The product material is wood (500 mm length and 80 mm diameter).
The structure is subjected to static test to obtain the stresses and the deformations
that occurred due the internal components then it followed by dynamic test which
contain modal test and fatigue test.
The suggested work has successfully got the result in reducing the weight of the
machine, reduction in deformation and increase in software adaptability.
