Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to review the current situation of ESP Testing at Sudanese universities. The methodology adopted for conducting data was a content analysis sample tests were collected from three Sudanese universities (Sudan University of science and Technology, university of Ahfad, college of Aviation). A check list table was used to identify the linguistic areas which were focus of the tests. The percentage was used to analyze the statistics of the content analysis. The paper has come out with the following: The tests used were not suitable to test ESP materials used, the tests used did not address the needs of the learners, in addition communicative skills of learners were never considered. The paper recommends that new methods of testing ESP should be reviewed; students’ needs should be considered when designing tests. In addition teachers of ESP should receive training on how to design ESP tests.
