The aim of this study was to assess fasting blood glucose as monitoring of long term diabetes compard to HbA1c. A comparative cross sectional study was carried at El Emteaz Specialized Diabetic Centre during julay to septemper 2013. Thirty three patients age ranged between 22-78 years (17 male), with diabetes were enrolled in this study. Fasting blood glucose (FBG) was collected three times from each patient one-week apart and measured; by the end of the month HbA1c was measured. Fasting blood glucose and HbA1c was not influenced by age, sex and duration. This study showed mean fasting blood glucose (MFBG) to be strongly correlated with HbA1c (r = 0.815; p = 0.000). According to this study results mean fasting blood glucose could be used as long term diabetic control.en_US
