أثر تغذية علف الرودس على إنتاج لبن البقار ومكوناته

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the nutritive value of Rhodes grass( chloris gayana )compared with Abu sabeen(sorghum bicolor) both fed to two separate groups of cross breed ( Friesian / kenana ) milking cows and their impact on milk production and milk composition . Six milking cows at the same parity number and lactation period were selected for this experiment and divided in two group 3 heads in each. One group was used as control and fed on fresh (Abu sabeen) while the second treated group was fed on Rhodes grass (green & dry). Daily milk yield from each individual cow was collected, recorded and weekly milk sample for each group was analyzed for chemical composition (fat-protein-Total solid-Ash) . The result were subjected to statistical analysis which reflected significant (P< 0.05) difference in milk production between the two groups favour of the Rhodes fed group . A significant (p<0.05) difference was also recoded in milk composition particularly Fat % age between the two group in favour of Abu sabeen fed group . This difference may be attributed to increase in milk production in the treated group and its negative correlation with the Fat % age.
