| Abstract: | This study was conducted in the laboratory of biochemistry of king Saud University to test the kinetic activity of butyrylcholinesterase enzyme (BuchE) against nine antihistamine drugs . All the drugs tested showed significant inhibition of the enzyme. However , some drugs show mixed type inhibition while the others showed non-competitive inhibition . The former group include priactine , Fenistil , Actidil and Cetylepyridiniumchloride and the second included Polaramine , Adol ,Cafemol , Histop and and Rihnoprot . The enzyme butyrylcholinesterase (BuchE) helps in the degradation of excess drugs that get to the body to facilitate their excretion . Unfortunately it was antihistamine drugs which might pose a problem for some individuals. |
