The effect of some AntIhistaminases drugs on the activity of butrylcholinesterase enzyme

Abstract

This study was conducted in the laboratory of biochemistry of king Saud University to test the kinetic activity of butyrylcholinesterase enzyme (BuchE) against nine antihistamine drugs . All the drugs tested showed significant inhibition of the enzyme. However , some drugs show mixed type inhibition while the others showed non-competitive inhibition . The former group include priactine , Fenistil , Actidil and Cetylepyridiniumchloride and the second included Polaramine , Adol ,Cafemol , Histop and and Rihnoprot . The enzyme butyrylcholinesterase (BuchE) helps in the degradation of excess drugs that get to the body to facilitate their excretion . Unfortunately it was antihistamine drugs which might pose a problem for some individuals.
