Abstract: This research aims to spectrophotometric determination of trimethoprim anti bacterial in urine stream drug in their pure and pharmaceutical forms , this method depend on complex formation between TMP and mixture of metol and potassium hexacyanoferrate (ΙΙΙ) , the complex gave brown color, reaction of the selected drug reagents were carried out in solutions, TMP was dissolve in mixture of methanol and water (1:1) , the complex was measure spectrophotometriclly at UV-Vis , maximum absorbance of the colored complex occurred at λ=420 nm. And also the effect of the parameters ( time , temperature , PH, reagent concentration and volume add) was studied at the λmax of reaction product , the results showed that , the stoichometric ratios is ( 1 : 1 ) . Under optimum conditions the absorbance of the TMP complex where found to increase linearly with increase in concentration of the TMP, statistical calculation of standard deviation ( SD ) , relative standard deviation ( RSD % ) and recovery % prove these results . The proposed method was successfully applied to determine of TMP in pure form and pharmaceutical formulations with good precision and accuracy.
