This is a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study,
conducted at Omdurman Military Hospital during the period from
January 2011 to July 2011. The aim of this study was to evaluate
the reticulocyte count using manual versus automated technique
in healthy and known anemic patients. Who attended to the
Hospital.
100 Sudanese were informed about the study and agreed for
participation was obtained.
The healthy participants were 26%.and the anemic patients
were 74%.
2.5 ml venous blood sample were collected in EDTA containers
and investigate for reticulocyte count by manual technique and
automated analyzer (sysmex XT2000i)
Other tests Hb, PCV, RBCs count, MCV, MCH, and MCHC are
obtained from the hospital record as complemenrty tests for
evaluation of RBCs parameters
The mean of reticulocyte count percentage using manual
technique was (1.3%) and with the automated technique was
(1.5%).
There was no significant difference in the reticulocyte count in
the two techniques .i.e. P value was (0.16) Also reticulocyte in comparison between male and female
participant, the mean of reticulocyte count percentage in male
was (3.3%) and in female was (2.9%).there was no significant
.)86.0deferent in reticulocyte count in both gender. i.e. ( P value
:Conclusion
It was found that the result of reticulocyte count does not
affected by method used in count and also not affected by
.gender |
