dc.description.abstract The aim of this study was to estimate the lipid profile among forty five immunosupprresive kidney transplanted Sudanese patients under Tacrolimus as immunosuppression drug, the mean age was 35.33+1.1 years and duration of transplantation was 3.43+1.7 years. Thirty five apparently healthy individuals matched age and sex, were involved as control group. Serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein- cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein- cholesterol (LDL-C) were estimated by using Biosystem kits (enzymatic methods) and spectrophotometer (T70, Germany). Renal allograft recipients showed significantly high levels in serum cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein- cholesterol (p= 0.023, 0.00, 0.00) respectively, and insignificant difference for HDL-C (p= 0.735) compared with normal control. Also there were significant increase levels in serum cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein- cholesterol and high density lipoprotein- cholesterol and duration, and there was insignificant between lipid profile and sex. The finding in this study confirmed that the immunosuppressant drug increase the plasma levels of lipid profile and Tacrolimus has ‫‪fewer unfavorable effects on lipid profile when compared with‬‬ ‫.‪cyclosporine A‬‬ en_US
