Abstract:
An experiment was carried out at Khartoum –Mogran nursery
,Horticulture Sector Administration, to study the effect of two methods of
grafting (cleft and whip and tongue ) ,scion length and rootstock age on
mango (Mangifera indica L.), grafting success.
The experiment showed that there was a significant difference
between 14cm scion length resulted in 87.5% success and the latter as
compared to 7cm scion length resulted in 45.8% success as first. On the
other hand a significant difference between the two methods of grafting
success of cleft grafting was 83.3% success while whip and tongue gave
50.0% success. It was found that there were differences related to the age
of the rootstock. Success was 81.3 in the one year old rootstock, 6months
old rootstock resulted in 62.5% success and the 9 months gave 56.25%
success.
