Abstract
The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of
credit, which is provided by Agricultural Bank of Sudan for
poultry producers in Khartoum State.
To achieve such purposes, inferential and descriptive statistics
where applied to data which where collected through field survey in
Khartoum State during 2005, using simple sampling technique,
forty-five producers where randomly selected as sample size.
The study gave the following results: -
-
Credit extended by Agricultural Bank to poultry producers
in Khartoum State covered about 35% of poultry producers
in the state and its not sufficient.
-
Poultry producers get their credit easily but the
granting grace period for repayment is short.
-
Most of poultry producers who are dealing with the
bank are small scale producers, and mainly married,
male and they have good experience.
-
Prevailing form of financing is Morabaha.
-
The result of correlation and regression analysis
indicated that there is appositive relation ship
between the monthly egg production as a dependent
variable, and the numbers of producing hens, hatch
area and the age of the farm.
Finally, the study recommended that: -
•
Special consideration should be given for financing
poultry production special consideration.
5
•
Sufficient resources should be made available for
financing poultry production and stopping credits during
production period should be avoided.
•
A consortium of financing should be created between
banks and financing institutions to finance and expand
modern poultry production enterprise in the state.
•
Coordination with other specialized institutions, which
have interests in poultry production like research,
extension and health units as well as producers and
importers, should be enshrouded and promored.
•
Facilitate guarantee measures for maximum benefit from
loans at the same time guarantying the rights of the bank.
e.g. increase credit margin for personal guarantee with
cheque for those producers who have good records in
their dealing with the Bank.
•
Attention should be given for extension & awareness to
raise the dealing culture especially with different parts of
the bank financing.
