dc.description.abstract These research is focusing on Phytochemical and antimicrobial studies of some flavonoids from tow medicinal plants Tamarix nilotica and Hyphaene thebacia uses in Sudanese ethnomedicine . The study confirm the present of flavonoids in these species with high concentration, these may be related to uses in traditional medicine . The conventional chromatographic techniques used for isolation and purification flavonoids compounds. The flavonoids were isolated from butanol fraction of Tamarix nilotica and ethyl acetate fraction of Hyphaene thebacia by thin layer and column chromatography. The spectroscopic data of isolated flavonoids served as a valuable tool in determining their structures. The confirmation of the structure of isolated flavonoid is achieved by the analysis of different spectral data (UV-VIS, IR, MS,1H and13C NMR). The different spectroscopic analysis led to identification of five compounds: tow from Tamarix nilotica (a flavone and a dihydroflavonol) and three from Hyphaene thebacia (tow as flavones and one flavonol). Evaluation of the antimicrobial activities of different extracts and isolated compounds was carried out by the disc diffusion method, measured by the diameter of the zone of inhibition. The results exhibited variable susceptibilities of microorganism for different extracts and pure compound .A significant antibacterial and antifungi activity was related to butanol extract from tamarix nilotic. The other extracts showed moderate to weak inhibition on fungi (Aspergillus niger& Candidas albicans) The pure compounds (I&II) isolated from butanol extract of tamarix nilotica also revealed significant antibacterial activity and antifungi activity. Compound IV isolated from ethyl acetate extract of Hyphaene thebaica revealed moderate inhibition on bacteria and fungi. This study demonstrated that the butanol fraction of Tamarix nilotica is potential candidate for antimicrobial activity and deserves further optimization. Antioxidant assay was performed by TLC using DPPH. A significant antioxidant activity was related to butanol fractions of tamarix nilotica and ethyl acetate fraction of Hyphaene thebaica. Summary of the compounds isolated from the leaves of Tamarix Hyphaene thebaica fruits en_US
