dc.description.abstract Three different brands of locally produces bottled drinking water, collected from different retail shops in Khartoum, were analyzed for different chemical parameters to verify the accuracy of their label contents and to ascertain their compatibility with recommended levels by WHO and SSMO. It was found that all under investigation brands chemical composition didn’t match with their label values. Nitrate and chloride were found to be much lower than the recommended levels. pH, nitrite and sodium were found to be in the recommended range, while TDS level was found to be higher than the recommended level. For all brands Fluoride levels was fount be lower than the recommended levels. A closer look at the chemical properties of the water has led to the conclusion that though bottled water is regarded as safe and healthy, they should be consumed with care especially if bottled water is the sole source of water used for drinking purposes. en_US
