parasites of the black back jackal Canis mesomelas. The methods used
were direct smear and floatation tests of the faecal material of the jackal.
Both methods revealed almost, similar results. Order of parasitic
prevalence was : Toxocaris sp (38.67%) ; Coccidia sp (28.58%) ;
Echinococcus sp (19.35%) ; and Taenia sp (6.45%) ; Giardia (3.22%)
;Toxoplasma sp(3.22%) ; Trichuis (3.22%) and Ascaris (3.22%) .
It is recommended that other carnivores and herbivores should receive
similar investigation procedure routinely.
