This work aimed to describe the measurements of the spectral response of silicon solar cell. Instead of illuminating the silicon solar cell under test with monochromatic beams at different wavelengths, the cell is irradiated with tungsten lamp. Variations in the spectra are made by employing a set of six different filters. The spectral response is determined by the short-circuit currents and open-circuit voltages measured under different spectra. Power, efficiency, and responsitivity of each filter are calculated. The results obtained shows that, the silicon solar cell do not respond uniformly to visible spectrum. Moreover, the highest spectral response achieved at green wavelength with highest efficiency. In contrast, the violet and blue wavelengths show low response with moderate efficiency. In addition, the yellow wavelength shows a lowest response with high efficiency, while orange and red wavelengths shown high response nevertheless its efficiency was very low. From this results, it can be concluded that the determine of spectral response is feasible a technique for improving the efficiency silicon solar cell.en_US
