dc.description.abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the fish quality of Almawrada landing site based on the sensory evaluation using the European system ( EU) Scheme. In this scheme the fish were classified in to four categories depending on freshness of fish, excellent quality (extra),grade (A) very good , grade(B) acceptable and finally grade (C) undesirable. The study covered 300 samples drawn from 15 tons of fish landed at the site . The final finding of the study revealed that 37% of fish landed were considered as( extra) quality , 39.4% as second class(A) and 19.6% as third quality (B) . On the other side it was found that 4.4% of the fish landed were unfit for human consumption ( grade C) . The study revealed that there were different methods of handling, preservation and transportation of the fish. These study discovered that about 56.7% of the fish landing were from white Nile ,and 43.2% From the Nile River while Blue Nile 1% . Results revealed that 59% of fish were preserved by ice only while 16% was kept in ice with saw dust. while remaining part handled and displayed with out ice which negatively affect the quality. The way of handling, preservation and processing of fish is hygienic and safe . This poor condition should draw attention of the public authority to consider all this deviation which no doubt well affect the environment and human health en_US
