Morphometric, Meristics Measurements and Comparative Studies of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from White, Blue Nile and River Nile in Sudan

Abstract

This study to show morphometric and meristics characteristics of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) from White Nile, Blue Nile and River Nile in Sudan, and to determine whether these fishes represents one homogenous population. Samples of the study were 300 fish were collected from Almoarda fish market, Omdurman on September 2013, from the data collection sheets belong to the fisheries officer. 100 fish sample from each of the three locations: The White Nile, the Blue Nile and the River Nile. The three samples were sexed and their morphological and meristics characters were established. The data was analyzed with SPSS Computer Software Version 11.5 package. Differences between examined characteristics were significant P<0.05 for the three sites.
