dc.description.abstract The researcher aims in this study to explore the problems of teaching writing skills at secondary levels in relation to spine (4-5). Also it aims to specify the types of writing and numbers of writing exercises in Spine (4) and (5) so as to help teachers to do remedial work in some areas. The researcher adopted a descriptive and analytical method of investigation. Data has been calculated statistically. The research population of this study consists of teachers of secondary levels and the sample of the study are "30" teachers of secondary level - Khartoum state- Jabal Awlia locality . The researcher use a questionnaire and the observations as method to carry out this study. The result of this study represent in the following:- 1.Teaching writing is more complicated and need more efforts than other skills of language 2.Writing provides additional contact with the language out side the class room. 3.There are not enough writing activities in spine (4) and (5); and some types of writing are totally ignored such as summary writing and punctuation in spine (4) and given less attention in spine (5). 4.Time allotted for teaching writing lessons activities is not enough. In the light of the results of the findings the researcher recommends the flowing:- 1.Teachers need to have regular training so as to be able to teach writing skill effectively as it needs more efforts from them. 2.Teachers must use different ways in teaching writing that according to level of their pupils. 3.The authorities who are responsible of education must reconsider the syllabus so as to give enough time for teaching writing skills and do also be attention to make a balance between the different types of writing and mustn’t ignore any one. 4.Various instruments have to use in teaching so as to encourage pupils and facilitate learning and teaching such as computer, disks, videos, records….etc. en_US
